Sara Naim is a Syrian visual artist, growing up between Dubai and London. She studied photography at the London College of Communication and moved onto working with New York’s Ryan McGinley. She currently lives in London whilst pursuing her MFA from The Slade School of Fine Art. She has exhibited in New York, Malaysia, London, Dubai, Jura, Guernsey and Arles, and has been featured in Art Forum, Phaidon, Dazed and Confused, and Vice. She is represented by The Third Line, Dubai.
Sara’s practice explores the physical forms to things that are unknown. There is an intentationality in the produced work but the results aren’t always immediately understood. This recognition of intent but inability to decipher meaning stems from her interest in language and the form of something that delivers meaning, or not. These images derive from Sara’s own dead skin cells and corrupt image files of her blood cells.
