As many Latin American artists of his generation, Ameztoy has learned to deal with economic restrictions. Through powerful creative strategies he found a way to include them into his poetic horizon and blend them in his work. Materials, their use and their metaphoric range are key in his production, ordinary papers and non-woven fabrics are used for large scale projects. Everyday materials, such as multicolor silk papers, and non-woven fabrics are among the cheapest papers available locally.
In his cut out Argentinian bank notes the artist has investigated the use of some of the finest papers available from European brands, using them in a smaller scale. These series of works are multilayered and multicolored cutouts contained in Plexiglas boxes. This line of work has led him to a specific practice of archival and restoration materials that he finds fascinating.
