The illustrations and films of Katharina Huber are founded on the crucial elements of hand-drawing and visual narration. Clear lines, rough textures, direct emotions and basic conflicts come together to compose human characters and social situations which are as abstract and universal, as particular and intuitively appprehensible. The inner state of the protagonists in relation to their environment is the main focus of her work, developing topics such as self-perception and self-acceptance, solitude, marginalisation and desire. This thematic framework is not only an intellectual choice but the consequence of her personal artistic experience by producing each single frame individually by hand. In this way the creating process becomes her own physical reflection on drawing and motion.
After graduating at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne she studied at the Royal College of Art and now lives and works in Cologne.
